this last week i put my family on a healthy diet plan. i have not ever been on a healthy diet before, and this was my first week, of at least, trying to stick with it.
i planned out the whole week, each day would have it’s own breakfast, snack, lunch, sack, and dinner. therefore i wrote a whole entire shopping list, and that night my mom and i went grocery shopping, and since i made the list and i wrote every single thing down, the bill was HUGE, compared to when my dad goes shopping and buys the bare minimum of food we need for the week, mostly all of the food he wants for the week that is!
once we were done shopping, i came home and i put all of the snack stuff into baggies. one per person each day. for example on monday, i put the assigned snacks into the bag and labeled it, “monday- for momma” because that is what i call her:) and i did one for dad and one for myself as well.
one of the nights, i decided to have tilapia with broccoli (don’t leave now if you completely hate this, but let me just get to the point!), instead of the salmon, (however that is still in the freezer!) and i didn’t know how to make it, but according to the package instructions, it said to thaw them under warm water for the fast way, and so i did that. then it said to dab them in seasoned flour, and i had no complete idea how to do that! so i looked it up.
i found the recipe, however i doubled it because i was making four pieces:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup corn flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
Thoroughly combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
however, i did not have all of the ingredients, for example, i did not use the cornstarch. and instead of kosher salt i used sea salt instead, and i did not ground it up, so it was still in chunks. however i had no idea how this would turn out, so i just went with it.
once everything was simmering in the pan, once the sides were golden brown, it was done, that’s what the package said. finally everything was done, and we sat down, and finally got to eat. i cannot describe how good it was. utterly delicious. if you don’t really care for tilapia, try this, because you don’t really think about the fish that your eating, however the flavor was what you were thinking about.
